Our

research

We’re here to raise awareness of the issues that matter to people in Bedford. We drill down into hard data and listen to what people say. We worked with a team of community engagement specialists who spent a month walking the streets of the Bedford Borough, talking to over 500 residents.

We're

research driven

We’re here to raise awareness of the issues that matter to people in Bedford. We drill down into hard data and listen to what people say. We worked with a team of community engagement specialists who spent a month walking the streets of the Bedford Borough, talking to over 500 residents.

Speaking to the people of Bedford

They spoke to people walking the streets, in shopping centres, hairdressers, outside religious buildings and in parks. They asked them what they thought were the biggest challenges facing the town.

The needs of young people were identified as the biggest concern and more than half of comments from young people expressed a desire for vocational support, including opportunities for work, apprenticeships, and work placements.

Career Mentors and Work Experience

To find out more we also talked to people working with young people. They told us that finding career mentors and offering work experience was a top priority. So we’ve found examples of programmes that work and are engaging with those providers. But our research hasn’t stopped; we’re working with a group of parents of children under eight to find out what the biggest issues for this age group are.
